The quirky American Visionary Art Museum collects and showcases only works created by self-taught artists, keeping in the spirit of the many "outsider" pioneers, such as James Smithsonian and the Wright Brothers, whose self-taught ingenuity have propelled us all forward. Past exhibits include Home & Beast, a six-gallery homage to animals and their roles as pets, food and mythological inspiration, as well as Holy H2O: Fluid Universe, a physical and metaphysical look at the role water plays in our world. This innovative, 35,000-square-foot museum lies at the base of Federal Hill, along the south side of Inner Harbor.
Open Tue. - Sun. 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Adult $12; Senior (55+), Students, and Children $8; Children 6 and under are free.
